The History of Stranik Automotive Group

Stranik Automotive Group was founded in 1962 by Richard Stranik, who opened his first location in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Before starting the business, Richard worked as a successful salesman for Uniroyal Tire. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service, he left his sales career to purchase the very first Midas franchise in the state of Minnesota. Richard quickly earned a reputation for honest service, quality workmanship, and treating customers like family. His dedication allowed the company to grow steadily over the years, expanding from a single location to nine stores, with the ninth opening in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Throughout this growth, Richard remained focused on building lasting relationships with customers and creating a workplace centered on integrity and teamwork. In 1978, Richard's son, Joseph (Joe) Stranik, joined the family business, bringing new energy and helping lead the company's continued expansion. During the 1980s, Joe's brother, Mark Stranik, also became part of the organization, strengthening the leadership team and helping prepare the business for the future. By the 1990s, after nearly three decades of building the company, Richard retired and entrusted the business to Joe and Mark. Under their leadership, Stranik Automotive Group continued to grow while maintaining the same customer-first values established by Richard. The third generation of the family joined the company in 2008, when Adam Stranik, Joe's son, became part of the business. Adam brought fresh ideas and a vision for continued expansion while honoring the traditions and reputation built over the previous decades. In 2020, the company expanded by adding three additional locations, marking another major milestone in its history. The following year, in 2021, Adam purchased the company from Joe and Mark, becoming the current owner and continuing the Stranik family legacy. Since taking ownership, Adam has overseen the expansion and modernization of multiple facilities while maintaining the company's long-standing commitment to quality automotive service and outstanding customer care. Today, Stranik Automotive Group proudly operates 15 locations—14 throughout Minnesota and one in Iowa—continuing a family tradition that has served customers for more than 60 years. From a single Midas shop in Minneapolis to a multi-location automotive service organization, Stranik Automotive Group remains dedicated to the principles that Richard Stranik established in 1962: honesty, integrity, quality workmanship, and putting customers first.
